Basel Committee report “ups ante” on internal audit, says IIA

New guidelines published by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision have upped the ante on internal audit in banks, according to the IIA. The institute says that they raise the profile of internal audit in banks and call for a much stronger relationship between banks’ boards and their internal audit departments.

IIA Global updates guide on auditing outsourced IT

The second edition of IIA Global’s Global Technology Audit Guide 7 – Information Technology Outsourcing contains crucial new information on this increasingly popular business practice. The revised guide is designed to help HIAs and their teams determine the extent of internal auditor involvement when their organisations’ IT is partially or fully outsourced.

Coso publishes thought paper on cloud risks

The Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (Coso) has published a thought paper entitled “Enterprise risk management for cloud computing”. It provides guidance on following the principles of Coso’s enterprise risk management integrated framework to assess and mitigate the risks arising from cloud computing.
