The new website, www.globaliia.org, showcases the IIA's core global products, including the International Professional Practices Framework in a variety of languages. It also features a global event calendar and will act as a portal to IIA websites worldwide via a new interactive map.

"The global website is an opportunity to create something new that serves the needs of our worldwide community," says Sylvia Gonner, vice president of Global Development for The IIA Inc. "It's truly a reflection of The IIA's global footprint.

"The global site serves as a gateway to help our members find information about internal auditing in other parts of the world,” she adds. “But it is also an opportunity for all of our members around the world to access one site where they can find current, easily accessible, relevant information that affects the internal audit community worldwide.

"The IIA's North American website, www.theiia.org, will also be redesigned and significantly enhanced in the coming months.

Careers advice

Moving up

Every secondment counts

If you are offered a temporary work placement with another employer – perhaps even in a different function from internal audit – you’d be well advised to jump at the chance. So says Chris Monk, whose organisation, Uniac, and its staff have long reaped the benefits of secondments.

The inbetweeners

Historically a stopgap for internal auditors searching for a more permanent role, interim management is now more likely to be the consequence of a positive and actively chosen career path. Why has it become such a growth area? Barclay Simpson's Andy Whyte explains.

Training & Development

Challenging conversations are habit-forming

“Any challenging conversation needs to be handled with care because people need to be handled with care. Forget this at your peril,” says Adrian Thompson, chief internal auditor, Norfolk County Council.
